Every year Oprah’s Favorite Things show is a big secret, but this year’s 2008 show was not only a secret but a very special show. Airing on November 26th the show was done in a totally different way and reflected the financial climate of the country and how to give gifts, have a great holiday season without going broke.
The primary focus of this years Oprah’s Favorite Things 2008 was to show you how you can get through the holiday season without spending a ton of money. Oprah was very wise to do a show like this considering the financial state that the country is in and showing people some creative options to purchasing gifts and giving gifts that are more heartfelt.
The 2008 Oprah’s Favorite Things show was a mix of ideas for gifts, such as a Gratitude Box. Oprah says she started this tradition with her employees and friends years ago and to this day is something she still does. For as little as $2 you can make your own Gratitude box, depending on how simple or fancy you want to go and place heartfelt notes inside to the person you are giving it to. Can you imagine what a lovely gift this would be for someone to receive and reading words from the heart and how special that will make them feel.
Oprah made a list of her favorite holiday music hits and in the spirit of the season she made both the music and the CD cover art available for download at her site including artist Faith Hill singing “Joy to the World”, Aretha Franklin singing “Silent Night”, Josh Groban, “It Came Upon a Midnight Clear”, Tony Bennett, “I’ll be Home for Christmas” and many, many more of this season’s hits sung by today’s hottest artists.
Another great gift idea from the Oprah’s Favorite Things 2008 show was a Treasure Box. They cost about $12 and inside you can put numerous keepsakes for your family, friends and children. You can buy some file folders and put them in there and date or tag them however you like. Inside the folders place special photos, report card, awards, anything you can think of that would mean something to that person. Start one for your best friend and then maybe they will add to the box and on different occasions you can give them something else to add to their Treasure Box.
Who doesn’t like hot chocolate … You can make Holiday Chocolate Cones for next to nothing and give as gifts to not just children. You can find recipes on the internet to make your own hot chocolate mixture and then add marshmallows and top off with chocolate chips. You can find piping bags or candy bags at your local craft store to put these in and tie with a nice ribbon.
Other ideas can be to have a Swap party which can be themed, such as for children’s gifts, cookie swaps etc. Anything you can think of. Everyone brings a gift and leaves with a gift. Also if you are a person that loves to make homemade goodies you can make up Gift Baskets with things from your garden such as homemade tomato sauce, applesauce, or fill your Gift basket with a bunch of homemade goodies like cookies, peanut brittle and add in some of the Holiday Chocolate cones anything thing you want and this makes such a great gift. Just another great idea from Oprah’s Favorite Things 2008 that won’t cost you a lot of money.
Oprah loves to read good books and even has her own book club. This year on of Oprah’s Favorite Things 2008 is a marvelous novel by David Wroblewski, “The Story of Edfar Sawtelle” If you love to curl up with a good book you may want to get a copy of this one.
Still looking for other options for gifts, then you may want to look at Oprah’s Favorite Things 2008 list where there are several more items by price range. Starting at under $25 and going up to $100. And don’t forget Oprah’s All Time Favorite Things, which is a list of her personal favorites from past years. Enjoy this Holiday Season without breaking the bank.

I have many conventional picture frames at home, but never seen something so innovative! Kodak EasyShare P720 Digital Picture Frame with Home Dcor Kit is an amazing photo frame which has features like the ones in my PC.
EasyShare P720 digital picture frames have a Quick touch border feature in which you can operate on the frame with your finger tips, without smudging or leaving fingerprints on the picture. You can easily transfer your favorite pictures and slide shows from your PC to your P720 in addition to organizing and editing them. Just to try out this feature, I transferred my son’s birthday party snaps from my PC to the P720 Digital picture frame, and it was done without any hassles! More over the birthday snaps looked absolutely beautiful in the P720. The images are displayed in High Definition (HD) format and the 7 inch (17.8 cms) screen uses the Kodak color science delivering clear and vibrant images with crisp details which makes your pictures look realistic.
The touch panel on the frame illuminates yellow lights telling you exactly where to touch, making it comprehensible. The drag and drop feature is very handy to transfer pictures for slide shows. It is so simple, not at all complex! My son has transferred so many pictures from our PC to the P720, without any difficulty.
Kodak EasyShare P720 Digital Picture Frame comes with a customized home dcor kit. You get two matte shades in Cranberry Red and Silver. In addition to these, you can opt for Kodak Digital frame Faceplates in Mahogany with gold matte, Silver with blue matte, Black shadowbox with champagne matte and Espresso shadowbox with black matte. These faceplates are optional accessories. With so many choices to choose from, you can customize your frames which will match your home dcor.
These up-to-the-minute digital frames can be displayed on the wall (horizontally or vertically) or can be placed on a table top. Kodak EasyShare P720 is so sleek that its cords are hardly visible, giving it a very discreet and trendy look! They are very portable and make great gifts as they are unique and attractive!
Kodak EasyShare P720 comes with a memory card or USB flash drives, which helps you to view your pictures as soon as you’ve transferred them into the frame. It also has an automatic on/off setting. The additional features like copy, delete thumbnail or print makes the digital frame even more user-friendly.
My husband missed our son’s 5th birthday last week as he is traveling. So I have transferred all the pictures and videos into the P720 frame and I am going to gift it to him when he’ll be back for Christmas. And I am sure he’s not going to feel like he’s missed something. For $129.88, it’s an awesome digital frame!

One great venue to actually try massage chairs our various events. You can find home shows, county fairs and other types of shows where massage chairs will be displayed. This is a great opportunity to try out some of the latest massage chairs. Although, this is a great venue, you do need to be careful of some vendors. Based on our customers who have purchased at shows and our own first hand look, We offer the following 5 tips on how to avoid key problem areas to find the best massage chair for you.
1. Massage Chair Components are Critical: Ask what country the main components are from. The critical components are the motors and the pc board. The motors should be made in Japan and the pc board should be from either Japan or Singapore. If the components are from other locations, then these components are of inferior quality and subject to short life spans or in other words - junk!
2. Beware of Over Generous Warranties: Many of these vendors promise very compelling warranties. The question is: Will they be here tomorrow to honor that warranty? One way to find out is to ask the salesperson if they have independent internet dealers, (That doesn?t mean their own website or E-bay!). Or even better, do they have retailers that have physical brick and mortar locations (preferable a known chain store). If not, then chances are they may never answer your call down the road for help. (The number you have reached has been disconnected and there is no new number–beep!).
3. We Get Our Massage Chair From Panasonic’s Factory: One of our favorite sales claims is where the massage chair comes from or where it is made. Some of our customers told us that salespeople would claim to get their massage chair from Panasonic’s factory. This is a weird claim and we see it as a tactic to get you to believe somehow their quality is the same, but of course at a substantial discount to the Panasonic chair. Now, how could this be? It must be the same as the Panasonic, be careful!
4. Can’t Find the Kitchen Sink: We were surprised at how some of the booths were set up for some vendors at Home Shows and County Fairs. There are many manufacturer’s that display at these shows and they will have 1 or 2 models to try. On the other hand, there are small importers that just got a container load of everything but the kitchen sink. Their booth is piled high with the stuff and they have a massage chair crammed in there as well. Be careful, that the chair being offered wasn’t just the last great deal he got. Because after the sale, the chair becomes your problem. They may not have a national technician service network or even parts on hand. Go with the major brands and you will not regret it!
5. This is The Deal of The Century: We all know the saying: If it’s too good to be true, then it probably is! This is certainly true when looking for a massage chair. The major manufacturers offer show specials, so you truly can get a good deal. Where you must be careful, are the small time vendors. They bring in a cheap chair loaded with features and sell it at ridiculously low prices. Avoid the temptation of short term gain for long term pain. You may be buying a long string of breakdowns, long waits for parts (if ever) and expensive technician service calls. Be careful of the deal of the century!
With the help of our customers, we offer you these nuggets of advice when shopping at a home show or county fair. There are many excellent massage chairs at these events. It is a great venue to take a break and try one. You will find the major manufacturers at these events and can take advantage of their special show price. Just make sure if you are seeing too good of a deal, then dig a little deeper to avoid some of the pitfalls we point out for you.
