Fast Shipping is More Convenient

Posted by Assistant Editor - March 16th, 2009

by Tom Sanderrs

You buy online for convenience. However, that convenience can turn to inconvenience extremely fast if the product’s shipping is delayed. You need the product to come straight to your door, no delays.

Delays in shipping can be very frustrating. Lighting is an important part of your home’s dcor and when there is a delay in getting your fluorescent lighting fixtures for your home it holds back all your other decorating ideas for the room.

How can you ensure that you will be getting fast shipping? The easiest way is to check out the company that you are dealing with. It is important to do your research carefully, so that you can assess a company well.

* Make sure it’s an established company: most web sites have an “about us” page, which is a page dedicated to the history of the company. There should be details about the company and their business history.

* A FAQ page: always help to iron out any feasible issues before they occur. Many people consult the FAQ page to prepare business cases, as the page is made up common questions and is aimed to assist customers.

* Wide selection: A good variety of products ensures that you don’t have to waste time dealing with different companies.

When looking for shipping and handling information you will find it in these places:

* FAQ: Look for indications of how much time it will take to ship items on average. An organization that has been in business for a while will know exactly how long it takes for their items to be shipped to various states and perhaps even countries.

* Link for shipping and handling: Sometimes there is a link for information about shipping and handling.

Another good indicator of the level of service you can expect is whether the provider is a middle man or the wholesaler.

* The “about us” page: there is not much information about the company. There will be a fair bit about the real company on their “about us” page.

* The organization’s age: if the organization looks relatively new, it probably is: Unless you’ve had strong recommendations, avoid new companies.

Dealing with a middle man means you’ll spend longer waiting for your order to arrive. If you purchase direct from a wholesaler you’ll also receive better support.

A good quality organization that has been in business for a long time understands the importance of treating customers well. How else will they have stayed in business for so long? They’ve learned from many mistakes inherent to the type of business they run and have spent time trying to cut down on hassles and delays.

Money Saving Tips for Christmas

Posted by Cathy Messecar - December 27th, 2008

by Cathy Messecar

Red sale signs line store aisles, and daily emails arrive in most email boxes advertising online bargains. The race is on to win our dollars. Especially in today’s economy, many are watching the way they spend paychecks. One of our customers has started paying for her purchases with cash, not with check or debit card. She said that habit makes her more aware of exactly how much she is spending. Christmas can bring extra expense to already burdened household budgets, so here are five tips which can help you save money during December.

1. Instead of buying fresh holiday decorations, more tinsel and trinkets, author Leslie Wilson suggests inviting your friends to a Christmas Dcor trading party in your home. Have each guest bring 1-5 decorations that they’ve outgrown or no longer suits their tastes. Each guest gets to exchange their decorations for an equal number of items. Guests can also bring fresh pine boughs or berried holly branches to share. Serve light refreshments. Your friends and neighbors will likely return home full of cheer eager to decorate with their good trades.

2. Explain to your children that each will receive only three gifts, the same number the baby Jesus received.

3. National speaker and parenting expert Trish Berg creates family fun by gathering her children’s Christmas books and wrapping them and placing them in a special spot under their Christmas tree. Each evening, her children take turns selecting a wrapped book. This promotes reading and the children find joy in the unwrapping and discovery, and then the family reads the book together before bedtime. She also packages several library books and sometimes buys a few new books to add to the stash.

4. You’ll spend money during the holiday season for these next two tips, but they will give joy throughout the next year. This season, watch for Nativities on sale, buy up a few and gift those to Christian couples for wedding gifts in the upcoming year.

5. The final tip is for parents and grandparents. At a craft store sale, buy supplies to make Christmas ornaments, but don’t complete the projects. In December write a note on your June calendar page, a reminder that you have the materials. Next summer when children grow weary of the usual outdoor activities, bring out one of the craft projects. If your family completes one project per month, next Christmas season, you’ll have a collection of handmade ornaments that your children can gift to Bible class teachers, scout leaders, and family. Be sure to save a set for your child and you, too.

Tips and tricks for wine tasting

Posted by Roger Gordon - December 8th, 2008

by Roger Gordon

An integral part of the whole wine tasting experience is making a close observation of the wine itself. Please be aware, the process of wine tasting refers to the whole experience, as opposed to the mere taste of the wine. Your understanding of the wine will increase immensely simply by observing it. The wine should always be tasted in a glass that is clear. The colour is best observed when held in front of a white background

The colour of the wine is an important factor in the taste of the wine. One thing you will notice is that not all red wines have the same red colour while not all white wines are actually white. This range of colour is something you are after. The longer a product ages and the more flavour that it actually possess, the more colour it has. In white wine, too much colour is not a good thing. White wine is actually ruined or tarnished in flavour by the aging process. On the other hands, red wines improve with age in flavour. They too range in colour. As red wines age, their colour actually lightens, unlike white wines which usually darken with age. The lighter the colour, the older a red wine is.

To discern a wines age by its colour you must tip the glass slightly to one side to make the edge of the glass clearly visible. This is known as the rim colour. If the colour has a purple tint this denotes the wine is of a younger age. An orange or brown tint conversely would suggest a more mature wine. You should also aim to, swirl the wine which enables you to view the body of the wine. A thicker consistency would indicate greater alcohol content and a sweeter flavour. You can learn a lot about a wine from just looking at it.

Although the actual tasting of the wine is important, so is the aroma of the wine. As a component of the whole wine tasting experience you need to smell the wine in the correct manner. Indeed, the aroma of the wine will help you determine if you have a wine that you can truly appreciate. Many people take a short sniff of their wine, which does not allow one to take in the full scent of the wine

The molecules in the wine will allow you truly appreciate the aroma. Wine tasters refer to this as the nose or the bouquet of the wine. Numerous different bouquets are mentioned with the most common being: spices, herbs wood, fruit, earthy, or floral. Each of these aromas will result in their own distinctive tastes.

The correct procedure to smell your wine is to, swirl it first. Moving the wine about frees the molecules to enable you to smell them. The next step is to have a quick sniff of your wine. Next, have a deeper inhale of the wine. You should now be able to smell the difference? Some experts dismiss the first, short initial smell of the wine. In either case, you can actually smell it. Consider the aroma. What does it bring to mind?

To capture the essence of “save money ideas” for the holiday, all you need is a small amount of preparation, coupled with foresight. Consider these holiday season money tips as a way to help you manage your money wisely this holiday season.

1. Look at your budget and compose your Christmas shopping list. You will need to take some time to reflect upon your list. After you decide upon the names for your gift list, place an estimated amount by each name based upon your budget constraints. Make it a key point not to go over your budget. This is a critical factor in being successful with “save money ideas.”

No doubt, you will sometime run across an item that you would love to give, but the price is not within your budget. When this happens, remember there is always another great gift around the corner for a loved one to enjoy that will meet your budget constraints. Just use your imagination when shopping. Think “outside the box” of gifts you normally give. Sometimes a unique gift ends up being the favorite.

2. Start your Christmas shopping early. Take advantage of the early sales, not to mention escaping the hustle and bustle of packed malls. Shopping online is one of the best “save money ideas” for Christmas shopping. You can find some great bargains online with the added plus of never having to leave your home. This gives you extra time to devote to holiday decorating, entertaining and having fun with family and friends.

3. Plan your food budget. Seems as though each time we go to the grocery store our grocery bill gets bigger. Having a potluck holiday meal is a great way to save on the food bill. If you are the host for this year’s holiday meal, then serve one meat dish. This can be a big saving for your food budget and at the same time most people will not care. With a potluck meal food tends to be bountiful, especially during a holiday. One of the great things about a potluck holiday meal is guests frequently love sharing the recipe of their own special dish they brought to the festivities.

4. Limit your travel. Traveling expenses can easily add up. Try to stay home this Christmas, if possible. If you must travel in order to spend time with loved ones, then pack sandwiches and snacks. This can save with food expenses for the trip. If you are traveling via car, then driving slower will give you better gas mileage. If you need to fly, then be sure to book your flight early to get a good price. This will be a key consideration in your Christmas “save money ideas.

The Twelve Days of Christmas and How to Celebrate It

Posted by Kerry Beck - November 29th, 2008

by Kerry Beck

The Twelve Days of Christmas is actually one of the most incorrectly identified holiday traditions and time periods on the calendar today. Most people assume that the 12 days of Christmas, like the advent calendar comes before and leads up to Christmas day. However, it actually begins on or after Christmas.

The 12 days of Christmas is also known as the period of Christmastide. During Christmastide, the way people celebrate the holiday season varies slightly. For instance, there are different beliefs as to when the holiday should be celebrated. These beliefs are typically influenced by the culture that you live in as well as the religious denomination that you practice.

For example, some traditions celebrate the twelve days of Christmas from Christmas day until January 5th. Other traditions celebrate it starting on Christmas evening until January 6th.

The twelve days of Christmas signifies the travel of the 3 Kings from the east to go see Jesus. When the Kings discovered that Jesus was born, they decided to travel to Bethlehem to see him. They brought gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh with them.

There are various philosophies of when the appropriate time to give gifts is during this time period. Many people identify Christmas day as the appropriate time to give gifts. Others save their gifts until the 12th day of Christmas. There are also many cultures and denominations that believe that a gift should be given each day of the 12 days.

This holiday period has a number of different ways that you can celebrate it. Many people celebrate it by lighting candles for the 12 days. For example, on each day of the 12 days, they light a candle to represent the progression of the Christmastide season.

Christmas dinner is also a significant part of the 12 days. The way dinner is treated varies as well. Some groups of people have their major Christmas dinner on Christmas day itself. Others have their major dinner on the 12th day of Christmas. Still others have a feast every day of the 12 days.

Then of course you have the 12 days of Christmas song. This song is the one where the lyrics are “On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me” There are many people who believe that this song actually refers to different components of the Christian faith, such as the Trinity and the 4 Gospels of Christ. Other people believe that this is false and is simply an urban legend.

Regardless of what you believe on how the twelve days of Christmas should be celebrated, it can be an incredible opportunity for you to gather with your friends and family and have fun. You can choose the best way to celebrate it based on your own beliefs and convictions about the holiday season.
